Weaknesses
The LA DOT is currently considering an offer from the Boring Company to bore a relatively short tunnel from the Rancho Cucamonga MetroLink to the Ontario Airport. This would connect mass transit to Ontario airport and is much less expensive than extending the Gold Line.
Thinking longer-term, there is a discourse around the vision of connecting the 5 major regional airports, (LAX, BUR, ONT, SNA, LGB) by high-speed transit. This enables a more optimized utilization and access to an LA mega-airport ecosystem. In the future, each airport acts as a hub in the greater system.
